«A woman's worth»
Jane Fonda is unforgettable as a resourceful, unassuming, uniquely gifted, remarkably loyal, and courageous country woman. Her husband, a struggling Appalachian sharecropper, finds a job in the big city of Detroit in the early twentieth century. Believing he has found a better life for his family, he sends for them. They uproot themselves from their familiar rural homeland, and join him in a crowded, dehumanizing, housing development set up for factory workers. Soon the family, and the main character (The Dollmaker) begin to unravel and self-destruct. In the middle of crisis she realizes her worth and integrity. Its a story filled with deep loyalty and family love.

«The Dollmaker»
An outstanding film that should be made available on DVD. Jane Fonda portrays realistically a woman of her time. The lessons taught in this movie are numerous and important.
I highly recommend it be re-issued on DVD.

«One of the best!»
This is an all time favorite movie of mine! The entire cast was supremely talented. The story was very moving. It made me so glad I live the life I do. Theirs was such a hard life after they moved to Detroit. This one is a classic!
